On October 5th, 2024, Geraldine Musi and LARDIN proudly collaborated with the JustLikeYou Global Foundation during its 2024 Annual Hiking Event held at the Greenbelt Perimeter Trail Park in Maryland. This meaningful initiative supported LARDIN’s Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention approach while advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those focused on Gender Equality, Good Health and Well-Being, and Climate Action.

The event brought together members of the African community to promote domestic violence awareness and prevention in a safe, supportive, and environmentally conscious setting. By choosing an outdoor, nature-based activity, the collaboration highlighted the powerful connection between environmental sustainability and community well-being.

Participants experienced what many described as “nature’s therapy” — fresh air, scenic views, and physical movement that fostered both physical and mental restoration. In addition to GBV awareness, important conversations addressed mental health, cancer prevention, blood pressure management, and the importance of self-love and self-care. Women were encouraged to prioritize their own wellness, recognizing that empowered individuals build stronger families and healthier communities.

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to holistic community development — where social justice, environmental stewardship, and public health intersect. Protecting green spaces, encouraging outdoor wellness activities, and promoting awareness around GBV are all part of building resilient and sustainable communities.
