On Saturday, July 26, 2026, The Legacy Action and Royal Development Initiatives [LARDIN] made a significant step toward a cleaner Mukindi.
Our team paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness, the Chief of Mukindi Village to officially present the Community Waste Management Project.
The meeting brought together traditional authority, local government, and the people who matter most: the Chief, community leaders, councilors, youth representatives, LARDIN staff, and volunteers. Together, we sat to discuss practical, community-led solutions for improving sanitation and protecting the environment in Mukindi.
Royal Endorsement and Shared Vision.
We were deeply encouraged by the warm welcome we received.
The Chief commended LARDIN for our commitment to community development and pledged his full support for the project. He stressed that *proper waste management and public awareness* are not optional — they are critical to reducing environmental pollution and flooding in Mukindi, a community that is growing rapidly.
_"When we keep our environment clean, we protect our health, our homes, and our future,"_ the Chief emphasized.
Key Outcomes of the Meeting
This engagement resulted in clear commitments and next steps:
- Full endorsement of the Community Waste Management Project by the Chief of Mukindi
- Commitment to convene all Quarter Heads before project implementation begins
- Community sensitization and training on proper waste management and waste separation at household level
- Strong collaboration framework between LARDIN, youth groups, councilors, Quarter Heads, and community leaders
- Confirmation from HYSACAM to evacuate accumulated waste in Quarter Four
- Plans to establish a designated waste disposal site with clear community guidelines for use.
Youth Leading the Way
One of the highlights of the visit was the enthusiasm from local youth. They invited LARDIN to join another community cleanup activity soon. This presents a powerful opportunity to engage more residents, build ownership, and promote environmental responsibility from the grassroots. When youth lead, communities change.
