This year for World Environment Day, *LARDIN* joined hands with fellow CSOs under the Ministry of Environment to take action beyond just talk. From radio sensitization to hands-on training, we spent the week showing that environmental protection starts with people, habits, and creativity.
Highlights of our activities:
1. Radio Sensitization | 30th May 2026
LARDIN, in collaboration with other CSOs and the Ministry of Environment, was live on *Eternity Gospel Radio* to sensitize the public on two critical issues: proper waste management and tree planting as a response to climate change. We focused on practical steps every household can take to reduce waste and protect our environment.
2. Tree Planting Exercise | 2nd June 2026*
We took it to the ground in *Limbe II Municipality* with a community tree planting exercise to promote environmental protection and combat climate change. The exercise was officially launched by *Deputy Mayor of Limbe II, Mama Panje Veronica*, alongside the *Divisional Delegate for Limbe II* and the *Divisional Officer of Environment*. Together, we planted the first trees and set the tone for a greener Limbe.
3. Capacity Building for Young Women | 4th June 2026*
At the *Women Empowerment Center, Limbe*, LARDIN trained young women from the Fashion & Designing Department on sustainable waste management. Instead of seeing waste as trash, they learned to turn it into opportunity:
4. World Environment Day Celebration | 5th June 2026*
We rounded off the week with the official celebration at the *Ministry of Environment, Limbe*. It was a moment to reflect, celebrate progress, and recommit to protecting our planet through daily action.
*Our message is simple:* Climate change is real, but so is our power to change it. Through sensitization, tree planting, and skills training, LARDIN is proving that environmental action and community empowerment go hand in hand.
This World Environment Day, let’s all do our part. Reduce, reuse, replant. The Earth will thank us.
