On August 4, 2026, LARDIN – The Legacy Action and Royal Development Initiatives was on the ground at Mukuru Camp, Tiko for a special purpose: a need assessment in commemoration of our upcoming Back-to-School project.

A Community Built on Fishing and Dreams.

In Mukouri Camp, fishing is more than an activity. It is the main source of livelihood for families. 
Every morning, parents head out to sea to provide for their households. 
And every morning, children wake up with big dreams… dreams that need books, pens, and a classroom to grow.

The Challenge: Staying in School
During our visit, we heard something that touched us deeply. 
Many children here find it difficult to stay in school. They struggle when it’s time to go back, not because they don’t want to learn, but because the burden is too heavy. 
School fees, books, uniforms… the costs add up, and for many families, it becomes overwhelming.

Why LARDIN’s Back-to-School Initiative Matters
This is exactly why LARDIN’s Back-to-School initiative exists. 

We are here to: 
1. Encourage the children – to remind them that their future is bigger than today’s challenges. 

2. Support the parents – by highlighting the importance of education as the foundation for a better tomorrow. 

Because when a child is in school, a whole community rises.
