Patient & Survivor Navigation Services

sub-border

Recognizing that several factors including cultural beliefs, education level, and fear contribute to how one decides to obtain care, Lardin has remained committed to delivering culturally appropriate support services to the women and families we serve. We provide patient navigation services to underserved, under privileged, and under insured African immigrant women, supporting them as they move through the continuum of care from awareness and prevention to treatment and survivorship.

Our patient navigation services help bridge the gap for African immigrant families facing violence and abuse. Most barriers we aim to address through our patient and survivor navigation program which include:

Translation: language barriers impede proper understanding of issues at hand
Transportation: most of the women or families we serve use public transportation which most times creates difficulty in keeping scheduled appointments.
Child Care Needs: Women and families often need assistance finding care for their small children and/or grandchildren in order for them to keep a job and other errands.

By helping families navigate the large and complex care and support system, we help to break barriers of silence in the African communities and change lives one family at a time.
